Song to Share – Emmanuel, God With Us

Merry Christmas! I hope and pray your day is filled with joy, hope and peace.

I imagine your home is filled with music this time of year – I know ours is. There are the old familiar hymns, and the fun Christmas songs that keep us smiling and bring back memories.

Every now and then, a new song comes along that catches our ears and our hearts. The song I share is one that did that for me, and one I return to every Christmas.

Our daughter is a graduate of THE Valparaiso University. She was blessed to study music with some incredible professors and musicians. One of her profs was Dennis Friesen-Carper. He wrote a wonderful piece of music that our daughter got sing several times, including the day of her graduation.

I remember the first time I heard this wondrous song, I was moved to tears at the beauty and wonder of the music and the powerful words. I have taken a recording that was done a year prior to our daughter’s college years and included the words and some images. I hope this touches you as it has me for many years.

Let us Pray. Almighty God, you made this holy night shine with the brightness of the true Light. Grant that here on earth we may walk in the light of Jesus’ presence and in the last day wake to the brightness of his glory; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
