John 20:26-29

A NOTE ABOUT THIS WEEK’S DEVOTIONS: Last week, we focused on the seven last words Jesus spoke from the cross. Jesus died on that cross, and his body laid in a borrowed grave. But death could not contain him. The tomb is empty and Jesus is risen from the dead! This week we focus on first seven words Jesus speaks on this side of the resurrection.
John 20:26-29 NRSV
A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.8 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”
Christ is Risen!
He is Risen, Indeed! Alleluia!
We have not seen, but we do believe.
I would venture to say that, even though we have not seen Jesus, risen from the dead, scarred hands and pierced side standing in our midst, we have seen.
We have seen it in the faith of parents and loved ones who have lived their lives as faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
We have seen it in transformed lives.
We have seen it in the renewal of life this Spring!
We have seen it in the smile of a child,
We have seen it in the joy of Easter,
We have seen the Risen Lord in all of these.
We are blessed!
Jesus is alive!
Jesus wins the battle over sin and death!
Because HE lives, we have life – abundant life!
FOR Christ is Risen. Risen Indeed – ALLELUIA and AMEN!
Let us pray:
Almighty God, open our eyes to see the Risen Christ in and around us. Open our eyes to see the wonder of your creation. Open our eyes and give us the power to believe. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Risen Savior. Amen.
